The gardens were in full bloom, the San Diego sun was shining, and the pools were shimmering. And the food. Oh the food.
Last weekend The San Diego Momfia was invited to experience the newly remodeled and renovated La Costa Resort and Spa. Mi Amiga, Courtney, and I packed our bags. We were off to join our sister city’s blogging community in the unveiling of the resorts exciting new style and even higher level of comfort. It was the ultimate girlfriend escape.
Who are these new friends, this San Diego Momfia, you ask?
They are some lovely ladies who are a part of…
a community-based group of bloggers … their website is a place for all San Diego residents to come together in a shared voice. Most of the contributors have their own blogs where they actively post about parenting, cooking, wine, fashion and anything else that tickles their fancy… For The San Diego Momfia website these women come together to love and support their city. They collectively discuss the fabulous things to do in San Diego with and without children. The website is a place of shared links, stories and opinions, while supporting each other, focusing on building the community at large and bringing awareness to the lovely city of San Diego.
Of course La Costa Resort and Spa would want to show off their new facility to this very large group of influential women. Let me introduce a few of them to you
Cheryl @Mommypant, Stefanie Adrian Mullen, Mary Burt-Godwin, Andrea Fellman and Theresa Hissong Seid {the head hancho, she has a second site HERE}
{click on each name to visits their sites; terrific stuff}
::Waving hello from the OC ladies::
Now time for the tour, would you care to join me? To begin at check-in, the staff was outstanding, friendly and professional. Especially Carrie, more about her later.
The newly renovated rooms are immaculate and spacious,
with large bathrooms and ample space. It felt like we were the very first guests to ever use the room. Get a load of that shower, no plastic curtain here, just beautiful marble. I am going to really like it here.
Oh hey, that dryer was a ceramic dryer ladies….
Here is a funny pic for ya, since this is a hotel tour post.
A photo in homage to The Pioneer Woman; had to get that hip slung out properly.
When we entered the room the sound machine was humming gentle waves crashing on the shore. So relaxing. Well played La Costa.
Check out this brilliant idea. It’s a tiny wall mounted light for night time reading. You can read Bossypants by Tina Fey while hubby snoozes, uninterrupted. A win win.
Now onto the Spa… Ooo La La
The facility is charming.
with well manicured grounds.
Gorgeous.
The spa pool area was incredible. Check out those pool steps. Ample room to stretch out and not invade someone else’s space.
Perfect.
Time to talk about the The Spa Social event. La Costa’s Online Marketing and Social Media Manager, Carrie Peterson, took care of every detail. The event ran seamlessly. Remember that gracious check-in hostess? Well this is the very same Carrie. While chatting poolside, I was extremely impressed that La Costa Resort and Spa had hired a Social Media marketing position. Carries is in charge of probably THE most important emerging marketing channel for hotels today. She
- Integrates La Costa Spa and Resort channels for Twitter, Facebook and other feeds.
- Manages online reputation & sentiments and most importantly for tonight
- Plans Social Media and interactive marketing campaigns. Just check out the….
live Facebook and Twitter feeds set up in numerous locations around the Spa. Very high tech.
Brandon from the band, Ottopilot, provided live music. Excellent choice of entertainment Carrie!
Can I mention the eats? The food was prepared by La Costa Resort and Spa’s Executive Chef, Hans Wiegand. Lobster sandwiches and goat cheese crostini were just two of the resorts offerings. I tell you, this is a 5 star culinary operation here.
Later in the night, Stefanie Mullen from Ooph describes the giveaways.
Danielle was the most perfect comfort corner.
Here is Morgan from The Little Hen House making her prize selection.
Then Christina from Mommy Loves Coffee.
Finally I cannot forget to mention Kathy my college sorority sister! I was so thrilled to bump into her and spend the evening sipping the sauce.
What a lovely time.
Thank You La Costa Resort and Spa
Thank You the San Diego Momfia for including me
and
Thank You Carrie for a job well done.
I am definitely coming back, with my little people, to play on this during daylight hours.
Indeed.
If you would like to see those gardens in full bloom, experience the spa and see those shimmering pools. Check out their website. Their rates are pretty darn special(only $229.00).

I haven’t been there since the 90’s. I am so relieved they have spent some money on updating the property. It was aging. I can’t wait to go and visit. Look wonderful. Thanks for the photos!
I stayed for only one night at La Costa, but I will be back! I had the spa package which was a great deal. Very reasonable. Great POST KSUGARANDSPICE.
Great review my dear! What a fun time…. The band guy looks hunky. :0 Great Spa package!
Michelle – you NAILED it. Hunky with a crooning voice to match. How perfect is that for a group of women in spa robes?
The Pioneer Woman Hotel camera pose!! You are a funny lady. I love your sense of humor.
So when are we getting together again? We nee another party place b/c it was so much fun, and let’s be honest you & I were/are the funniest people.
