December 29, 2009 – Darcey Died

Darcey was sick with cancer and the day had come where she needed to be free of pain and frolic in heaven.

The day was confusing, sickening and horribly sad. I escaped on the web from time to time and happened upon Auburn Beagle. I picked up the phone and spoke to the one person, another Beagle lover, who completely understood what our family was going through. Her name, Julie Cheng, the owner of Auburn Beagle. A quote from her website:

Auburn is to produce quality Beagles of exceptional type, temperament, and soundness. Our goal is to breed dogs that can be competitive in conformation and other performance events, while also being wonderful lifelong companions and family pets.

She shared, among many supportive thoughts, which helped me breath a little easier and dried my eyes that day for a moment,  that a  litter of puppies, born on December 17th, would be available mid February when they reached 8 weeks old. Below is a photo link to the litter as they progressed from birth until the day we met Daphney

There were 5 puppies in the litter, 3 girls (2 tri and 1 lemon) and 2 boys (both lemons)

Daphney is #3, and a ‘Lemon Beagle’, just so you know a ‘Lemon’ in Beagle terms, is the exact opposite of a ‘Car Lemon’ in human terms.

  1. Such a time of transition. Losing a pet and gaining one so close to each other…
