Last night I sat in a chair listening to some ultra-savvy women from Orange County, speak about Women in New Media. It was an inspiring night. I always leave these gatherings encouraged, nurtured and ready to Rock and Roll.
The smart, funny and adorable Suz Broughton, just love her, brought this marvelous night together. She is carving new territory here in the OC, mark my words. Oh and can’t you tell by how Suz’s handles the mic, she would definitely have all four chairs turn around on The Voice. Personally, for me it would be a very hard decision between Adam Levin and Blake Shelton. I need to think about that.
The panel speakers were (from left to right) Nancy Luna (OC Register Fast Food Maven), Kristen Howerton (She Posts/Rage Against the Minivan) Greer Wylder (Greer OC) and finally Jennifer Karmon (from a little company by the name of Yahoo). Everyone rocked the mic like a vandal, especially Kristen, because she thought of that saying last night. Which makes me wonder, Kristen are you Team Blake or Team Adam?
Here are a couple of key points I took away from last night:
- Antenello’s Restaurant in Costa Mesa has delicious food and excellent service. The Fagottini special – Little pastas filled with Gorgonzola and Walnuts in Mascarpone Cream topped with Organic Hazelnut was an indulgent carbo-loading present to myself. I would order that again any day of the week. Day or Night. Rain or shine. I really need to eat there more often.
- THE OC PRESS CLUB – be prepared Orange County; ready or not here we come.
- Greer OC – Thanks for paving the way for all of us. Your inventiveness is legendary. Check her out friends – www.greersoc.com
Which brings me to my new gig, the one I have waited to tell you about:
I have been handed the reigns to take over OC Metro Magazine’s Lifestyle Section for Fashion. Here is a peak at my very first layout, ‘A glimpse of spring’ on stands now.
I still look at my name in print and am in disbelief. Really, little ole me? It’s my very first HANDS-DOWN-ABSOLUTE-DREAM-JOB. My days are filled with reviewing fashion content from retail establishments in Orange County, from Neiman’s to Ann Taylor. Then creating a fashion layout representing my finds.
I cannot wipe the smile off my face.
Thanks for letting me share this with you friends, if you have an ideas/finds share away in the comments. I would love love love to hear about them.
Back to the drawing boards with jumpy claps and a dash of Rock and Roll,
