Quiksilver for Women has Opened Their Doors

October 9, 2012 by Kathleen

Fashion Island1

Quiksilver for Women has opened their doors at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. It’s precisely what a California girls needs. The store gives you a well-curatedSuz Broughton and Kathleen Enge glimpse into the brand’s coastal heritage. A culture found in places such as; Salt Creek, Huntington Beach Pier and Lowers. These stand-out surfing locations exemplify the crowd pleasing approach to traditional Southern California women’s clothing.

The store features the Quiksilver Women’s collection alongside a carefully curated collection of products from outside vendors, such as Ray-Ban sunglasses, Will Leather Goods and 31 Bits jewelry. The walls of the store have custom imagery of iconic Newport Beach locations as captured by photographer Andrew Paynter.  Think of this place as a relaxed beach environment wrapped in a sophisticated velvet vibe.

Fashion Island7To celebrate their opening, a group of fashion peeps and tastemakers gathered at the store for a 24-karat dinner. It was prepared on-site by none other than celebrity Chef Ludo Lefebvre.  His claim to fame? He moves his fine-dining kitchen to a new location every few months for limited engagements. They sell out instantaneously. Time magazine says Ludo is a “Chef of the Future”. I witnessed groupies swoon over him, both foodie and non-foodies alike. But, his eyes were only for his wonderful uber-cool attorney wife Krissy.

Back to Quiksilver. It was a festive night. Everyone ate, drank a glass of Hall wine and chatted with countless hardworking and creative folks from Quiksilver. Paul McAdam, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Quiksilver Retail, thanked his staff and welcomed each guest personally. I liked him, he knows how to keep it real. True to the surfer brand we all love. Steve Wilson, General Manager/Senior Vice President and Head Designer John Moore answered my many questions, including inspiration behind Fall and Winter’s collection. A nautical flag caught John’s eye on the coast of the Northeast, in Maine and Rhode Island. The weather and beach culture, where Nor’easters bring epic surf, got his creative juices flowing.  Steve Wilson, Kathleen Enge, and John Moore Quiksilver
The autumn line features many timeless, well made, and lasting pieces. Some of their double weaved tops had me drooling. When real Southern California fall weather kicks in, temperatures below 70, I can’t wait to layer up with a few of the following pieces (click on the pink links to take you directly to the product).

The Fling Campfire Shirt (Fleece DOUBLE Weave!)

Nautical Patch Hoodie (Love the color!)

Quiksilver Women’s Flag Sweater (Paired with a yellow 31 Bits necklace – Go Bruins!)

Someone please hand me a pumpkin latte and put a log on the fire.

When you have a minute, check out their new store, your gonna love it So-Cal friends.
