Inspired by the Kentucky Derby and The Royal Wedding, hats have been on my mind lately. All kind of hats and hair accessories known as Fascinators.
Before the Royal wedding did you ever wonder what a Fascinator was? Well, I have come to learn a Fascinator is hair accessory popular in British and Australian horse racing circuits and weddings. It is a hair piece made with feathers, silk flowers, beads, crystals, rhinestones, ribbon, or netting. They are fastened to the hair by a comb, clip, or headband. Fascinators differ significantly in shape and size, from a simple feather on a headband, to very flashy mini top hat with huge ostrich plumes and flowers.
If I had been at the Kentucky Derby last weekend or invited to the Royal Wedding, I would have loved to have worn one of these dramatic hair pieces. We love them too! The royal wedding inspired us so much that we will be carrying Philip Treacy and Vivien Sheriff for Spring/Summer 2012. I already picked them out, including the same hat worn by Victoria Beckham, and I can’t wait for them to arrive. It will be like Christmas!
